Tennessee Room Assistant – 90 Years Old

Mr. A. M. Pounds, Tennessee Room

part-time assistant,

 had his 90th birthday on January 25. 

 There was a reception for him

 Saturday, January 28, from 2 to 4 pm

Friends and family members came

and wished Mr. Pounds a

happy 90th Birthday.

Judge Ed Bryant presented Mr. Pounds with an American flag

that was flown over the US Capitol on September 11, 2002

Mr. Pounds has served the Tennessee Room of the library

as a volunteer for over 15 years and

 as an employee for about eight years.

He was active in the organization of Dixie League baseball

in Madison County.

He is a World War II veteran,

 having served in North Africa, Italy, and Southern France,

 driving trucks and amphibious dukws.
